Dear Bhagavatas,

Iwish to answer the doubt on Rama Paduka.

Adirohara padabyam paduke hemabhushite I ........ Sodhiruhya
naravyagrah.......... these are the verses in ayodyakanda sarga 112 / 21,21.

Bharata asks Rama to step on the golden pairs of paduka . He did so

>From the above slokas I think that Rama who left for forests quitting
>everything might not have taken a pair of golden paduka which is to be weared
>bya king. So bharata might have taken those paduka with him

T o support this I wish to quote 2 more slokas from ayodya kanda sarga 79/10,11

Aabishechanikam chaiva Sarvametadupaskrutam IPuraskrutya gamishyami Ramahetor
vanam prati II Tatraiva tam naravyaagram abishichya puraskrutam I .......

>From these slokaas it is clear thatBharat wanted to perform pattabisheka for
>Rama in forests it self So he wished to take all those meterials with him. So
>it is safe to conclude that Bharata took the pairs with him.

Further Swami Desika in Padukasahasram states that Rama steped on those pairs
only to get its strenght other wise He could not walk through the Dandakaaranya
which is full of stones (Samarpana paddati-16) By this sloka we canconclude
that Rama went to foirests bear footed. If it is so one could find no fault
with Bharata too.

I wish to get the opinions of Baagavatas regarding this reply. I wish to
becorrected if Ianm wrong

Kaasyapah

Offer a suitable answer to the question?

Sri Rama left for the forest wearing the attire befitting an ascetic. He
does not seem to have taken with him any royal belongings. Of course, he
took his bow and arrows (KodanDam) and a pair of footwear to protect his
feet treading on thorns and hard rock.

As the story goes, Sri Rama offered his footwear and Bharata took it to
Nandigrama and installed it on the throne there, himself serving as a
regent. No doubt, this is praiseworthy.

But, the question is:
Was he right in depriving Sri Rama of even his footwear leaving him to walk
barefoot in the thorn filled forest and sharp stone-filled terrain?

Is there any reference to Sri Rama taking extra pairs of shoes, so that he
could spare one to Bharata or to Bharata taking an alternative pair all the
way from AyOdhya?

If not, would this not be a disservice to Sri Rama?
