Dear Bhagavatas:
The learned Prof. N.P. Reddy garu has presented an alternate
reason for the degradation in the Puja practices.
While it is not proper to make sweeping statements about
the misdemeanor of priests based on a few anti social elements,
the Government controlled temples are also not blemishless.

The bottomline is that corruption exists every where and
we cannot apportion blame on one or the other exclusively.

For example, We sent a couiple of years ago,a check for
US$ 1000/= to TTD for what was touted as "Dasa Vrusha Seva",
promising so many perks including free accommodation,
admission to all the Sevas on the day required every year
for a period of 10 years.

But, what we got was a non-descrepit receipt showing it
as for "Hundi". Several complaints pointing out the mistake
went unheeded.
When contacted, it was learned that they had taken it as
a credit of US $ 100/= and as for "Hundi".
There was none in the TTD willing to own responsibility
or to set right the mistake till today, even though documentary
evidence was made available to them.
Only the Lord knows where the $1000/= had been stashed
and who has misappropriated it.
I am sure this is not a solitary instance and many more
would have been vistims of such frauds.

However, Sri Ranga Sri" is not the forum to discuss the subject,
I request Bhagavatas NOT to post any responses to "Sri Ranga Sri"
but to take up with Prof. Soundararajan and his band of dedicated
volunteers to probe into such vagaries on the part of TTD.

The original mail was approved only by way of information so that
Bhagavatas may be warned againt such malpractices and NOT for
initiating any debate or discussion in this forum.

These temples are without poojas not because of the
government, but because of the corrupt priests. Our
ancestors have given land to them to take care of the
temples, but the degradation of these preists have
resulted in not performing the required poojas.

The temples which have been taken over by the
government are runni8g well and are well organized
when compared to the temples run by power hungry and
corrupt priests. Please visit any north Indian Temple,
and you will see what is happening.

Having arjitha sevas does not mean that there are
differences in the dovotees before the Lord. Atleast
that way, it is insured thate the poojas are
conducted. Otherwise, the priest altogether abondon
the diety worship turing the people into converting to
ther relegions. Arjitha Sevas ddo not represnt a shame
on our relegious system. In fact it represents, the
participation of a householder in the dialy
activities of the temple. Kings used to sponsor these
poojas.

Not doing the pooja is a shame on our relegious
system. It represents the hijaking of God by the
unscrupulous priests.

In other relegious sytems in other countries, the
people are well informed of their relegion, and they
contribute 10% of their salary to the church. On the
other hand, the average hindu has been kept in the
dark. Let alone the average hindu, even the priest do
not know how many puranas exist. Out of the 3200
temples in Andhra Pradesh, more than half are in the
hands of igorant priests who are not even educated and
are not even interested in learning about their
relegion.

Yes, that is the reason the north Indian temples are
very disorganized and without poojas to the dieties,
They are not under the control of government.

I agree that the archakas have to paid well.

Yes, some of the priests in my village have turned to
meat eating, gambling , and illicity sex, etc. That is
the reason, the governemnt should come in and appoint
qualified priests. The qualified priests are not
controlling the temples.

What we need is the priest replaced by qualified and
well trained priests (such as those trained by JET
Vedic Patasshala) should be offered the jobs.

You do not want to support the temples, and you do not
want to have the poojas continued.

Kali pususha exists in power and money, let our
priests refrain from these and continue with dovoted
poojas to our dieties,

Please leave such reforms to well versed experts like
our beloved Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Srin Narayana
Ramanuja Chinna Jeeya Swamy garu.

With all glories to Lord Sri Venkateswara, and prayers
for the continuation of the diety worship for
thousands of yugas to come,

Sincerely,
Narender Reddy
