Dear Bhagavatas:
Please find enclosed the mail from Sri Shyam Srinivasan.

In fact, I attended the 10 day Personal coaching classes
besides
the Postal coaching course offered by the Bangalore based
"Himdu Seva Prathishtapanam, Samskrutha Vibaga:' in 1987
(when I was 62 yaers old) and passed in "Prathama Sreni"
(First Class0 to supplement and refresh my "first class"
in Sanskrit secured during my school and College days
ending 1945!

They do such a wonderful job. As you finish the course,
you can palpably feel your almost effortless mastery over
your expressions in Sanskrit.

The only handicap you may feel is that after all these,
there may not be many people available for you to converse
in Sanskrit and you will tend to forget for sheer lack of
opporunity, as it has happened in my case!

You are lucky to be in Bangalore. Wish you all the best.

Mail from Sri Shyam Srinivasan

Dear Sri Srinivasan,

You are in the most ideal place to learn Sanksrit. There is famous
person by name Sri Krishna Shastri whose organization named Samskrita
Bharathi made a whole village (I think Maddur in Karnataka) talk in
Sanksrit. I and my brother went to a 10-day Sankskrit conversation
class when I was in 7th standard in school. As a result of this just
20 hour class, even after 15 years, we still can manage to have
simple conversations in sankstrit. This is due to the fact that
Sanksrit is taught thru Sanskrit as a medium and without using any
other languages. For eg, the class starts like

mama nAma srinivAsa:
bhavatha: nAma kim ?
bhavathya: nAma kim ?

By the context of such sentence, everyone in the class understands
what that means and immediately replies "mama nAma shyamsundara:"
etc. The whole class is built upon in such beautiful manner and in no
time we can feel that Sanskrit is NOT a dead language since we use it
without our knowledge in our day to day lives, no matter which
language we speak as mother tongue. We all feel comfortable to have
simple conversations (not like Vidwans ofcourse) in 10 days.

They have many classes oraganized throughout India and even some in
the US (west coast). You can get more details from their web page
http://www.samskrita-bharati.org/. They also have advanced classes
for those already trained in the basic. I would sincerely recommend
this class for anyone interested to learn not only to
read/write/understand but also SPEAK in this great language.

regards
Shyamsundar Sreenivasan
