Don't clutter the page
Don't overload your page with links, images and/or text! That's a very Bad Thing! You'll only confuse the user. An example of extreme clutter is C|Net. At first you see their menu running down the left, articles in the middle, and advertisements on the right. But as you scroll down, you suddenly find yourself inundated with links. Links! Sweet Jesus, too many links!! On the other hand, an excellent site that gets its point across without slamming you with sensory overload is RedCap.Org. There's a lot of links, but they're presented to you in a sort an organized, linear order. Instead of feeling like you should click everything at once, this site lets you take your time by giving you one link at a time as you progress down the page. |
