terasaur is a platform for publishing and distributing large files. It uses BitTorrent for data transfer, but extends the standard peer-to-peer model to better suit the needs of content providers. Much of the ibiblio content repository will be published through terasaur in the near future. Feel free to browse terasaur.org.
A key component of the terasaur platform is the Seed Bank. This is a BitTorrent client that acts like a server. It’s designed to efficiently seed millions of torrents, allowing content providers to bridge between large backend storage systems and external downloaders. The Seed Bank software will be released under an open source license in the future. Our goal is for other content providers to install a Seed Bank, plug into the terasaur platform, and publish/serve files from local repositories.
