Special Characteristics:
  • Each of the 16 Eurozone members are permitted to issue one 2 Euro coin design each year. There are strict production limits placed on these coins.
  • These coins can be used in the same manner as their standard issue counterparts, throughout the Euro Area.
  • Greece was the first country in the Eurozone to issue a commemorative 2 euro coin, in honor of the 2004 Athens Olympics.
