Euro Trivia (907)

Postby theeuro on 11 Feb 2009, 06:53

This trivia includes all circulation Euro coins, including the 2 Euro commemoratives:

Whose initials appear on the most Euro circulation coins (please supply the person's full name)? Please note that this does not include minor variations, such as change in year stamp only; so you can't count a French 2 Euro 10 times for J. Jiminez.

Good luck and have fun!!

Does that count? If it does, then it is obvious, his initials are in the common side of all denominations of all countries. So is that 8 x 20 (including variations, it could be more) coins? Or just 8 + 5 sides (old and new design)?

Thanks,
Miguel

The correct answer is:

Daniela Longo

Her initials appear, in one form or another, on 18 separate Euro coins.

What about 'ΓΣ' (Γιώργος Σταματόπουλος)?
His initials are on 18 coins (Greek coins, Greek €2CC of 2004 and 16 €2 for 10 years of EMU).

The initials of Γιώργος Σταματόπουλος (Georges Stamatopoulos) are only on 17 Euro circulation coins. While he is credited with the design of the 2004 2 Euro commemorative, his initials are not on the coin.

Oops! I knew that he designed the 2004 2 Euro commemorative but I haven't noticed that his initials are not on the coin.

Quite interesting that you should mention this. I recently had a conversation with the Bank of Greece that was very ambiguous about the design of the 2004 2 Euro commemorative. They seemed to have alluded to another designer in addition to ΓΣ; someone by the name of Kostas Kozako (I think that's the spelling). Has anyone ever heard of this name before?
