Euro Trivia (908)

Postby theeuro on 15 Feb 2009, 18:13

In relation to the previous trivia question (907), this week's trivia question also relates to name and initial inscriptions on Euro coins:

How many different people are represented in the form of signatures, names and/or initial inscriptions on all of the Euro circulation coins?

This does not include mint master marks.

Yes, it should... I wrote that page on Wikipedia.

Additionally, there is a page on this website that would also provide some help as well...

There are some pretty good guesses... but maybe I should wait another week to give more people a chance to answer this one?

This trivia question is a little tricky. I'll say it has two answers in order to appease everyone:

The correct answer(s) is/are:

48 or 57

The 48 are as follows...

Wolfgang Amadaeus Mozart
King Albert II
Joaquim Jimenez
Laurent Jorio
Oscar Roty
Fabienne Courtiade
Γεώργιος Σταματόπουλος (Georges Stamatopoulos)
Eleftherios Venizelosone
Ioannis Capodistrias
Rigas Fereos
Maria Carmela Colaneri
Laura Cretara
Maria Angela Cassol
Roberto Mauri
Claudia Momoni
Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini
Luciana De Simoni
Eugenio Driutti
Yvette Gastauer-Claire
Noel Galea Bason
Prince Albert II
Queen Beatrix
Vítor Manuel Fernandes dos Santos
M. Frantisek Chochola
Ettore Lorenzo Frapiccini
Ivan Řehák
Pavol Károly
Ján Černaj
Drahomír Zobek
France Prešeren
Primož Trubar
Don Miguel de Cervantes
Guido Veroi
Uliana Pernazza
Daniela Longo
Pertti Mäkinen
Grand-Duke Henri
Bartolomeo Borghesi
Luc Luycx
Tapio Kettunen
Grand-Duke Adolphe
Heinz Hoyer
Giochi Invernali
Erich Ott
Robert B. Baron
Irene Vilar
Pope Benedictus XVI
João Duarte
Saint Paul

If you count the barely legible signatures on the Austrian 2 Euro commemorative of 2005, the answer then becomes 57...

Vyacheslav Molotov
John Foster Dulles
Harold Macmillan
Antoine Pinay
Leopold Figl
Ivan I. Ilitchov
Geoffrey Arnold Wallinger
Llewellyn E. Thompson Jr.
Roger Lalouette

A more detailed post outlining on which coins each name is located will be forthcoming.
