Does that mean that Spain and the Netherlands will have to change theirs designs?

The stars on the Spanish coins are already in the 12o'clock format
for the Netherlands, yes they have to change the format

note that the Vatican and Belgium already did so

@melitikus

Do you know whether the Netherlands already made a decision on changing the stars or where I can find more information?

thanx

no I have no idea if they will change it or not
only I am saying that they should if they want to comply with the EU recommondations
and it is not just the Netherlands but also Luxembourg, Germany and Austria ..
NB: Austria for repeating the denomination on the national side and Germany for not indicating the country

We are going off topic. We should have this discussion in this thread.

Some of us already asked a lot of question, some of them were answered. You guys are on the right track about the countries that should change. But nothing official has been said yet.

Thanks,
Miguel

I just realized (thanks to melitikus) that Belgium 2008 design does comply with the position of the stars within the outer circle of the coins. Maybe this was the reason why they were allowed to keep this new design although originally they were not supposed to change it before 2009. Which BTW, will they be allowed to continue with this design, or will they be requested to rollback the design to the old 2007 coins is not officially decided.

I hope they keep the new design, I like it more than the old one ;)

Thanks,
Miguel

melitilkus: oh, I looked wrong at Spanish eurocoins. Thank you.

Miguel: if you mean as design in case of Belgian coins effigy of Albert II., I don't see any considerable differences. :)
I think they will not be allowed to get back to the 1999 design, just because the stars position.
