That is a cool design which makes a very cool & imaginative use of the Euro sign.

€2 commemorative coin issued to celebrate 10 years of the euro
The Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland today (5 January) issued a new €2 commemorative coin to celebrate ten years of the euro and of economic and monetary union and the creation of the euro on 1 January 1999.
All euro-area member states are issuing the 2-euro commemorative coins using a common design. In addition to Ireland, the coin will also be issued by Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland.
The common design shows a stylized human figure in the centre of the coin whose left arm is extended by the euro symbol. The name of the issuing country in the national language appears at the top, while the years 1999-2009 and the acronym EMU translated into the national language appears at the bottom. The outer ring depicts the twelve stars of the European flag.
Citizens and residents of the European Union were invited to vote on-line to select the common national design and chose the design created by Mr. G Stamatopoulos, of the Greek Central Bank
The issue of the Irish commemorative coin is restricted to 5 million and is available from today. An official order form is available from the Central Bank by phoning 1890 307 607 or from the website, http://www.centralbank.ie .
