Open Office Impress
From TWBWiki

Prior to the lesson, Rachel prepared a Media:tutorial presentation on the presentation software Impress from Open Office. This would give students a chance to learn how to open saved files and navigate the file hierarchy dialogs. However, the instructors soon realized that the younger students were reluctant to read through directions and that some tasks in the tutorial required multiple steps, which would force those reading the directions to jump between two program windows and sometimes start the procedure over from the beginning. We are considering a step-by-step tutorial with screenshots may be more helpful, but we also realize that the presentation approach may not be as effective as a one-on-one, demonstration strategy.
Some other observations:
- Students continued with Caps Lock typing.
- This lesson was a first exposure for vertical and horizontal scrollbar navigation for many students.
- There was confusion about inserting new slides and images, since the options lie under the same menu.
