Q: How can I find out more about a book?
If you know the author and/or title, or even part of the title, we suggest you start with the search screen.

Currently, our complete list of books in print is available for searching at the Association of American University Presses online catalog site. Click here to search the 1999 version of UNC Press Books in Print.

For an annotated listing of all books published by UNC Press through 1997, Books from Chapel Hill, 1922-1997 is now available in hardback or paperback.

Q: I am a book reviewer. How can I get a book to review?
Copies of our publications are available to the media for review or other news coverage. Fax your requests on letterhead to the attention of the publicity department at 919-966-3829. Questions from the media can be emailed, or call our publicity department at 919-966-3561.

Q: I would like to consider a title for use in a class I teach. What do I do?
To receive a book to examine for course adoption:
If you would like to consider a book for course adoption, please submit a request for an exam copy on department letterhead. Your request should include the name of course, approximate enrollment, and teaching dates. Please include your office telephone number.

Exam copies of most paperbacks are available to course instructors for a prepaid fee of $5.00. Please include this fee with your request for speedy service.

Exam copies of books priced at $20 and higher are sold at a discount of 20%. The book will be sent with an invoice reflecting this discount. A refund will be issued if we are notified of an adoption within 60 days. If not adopted, the exam copy may be returned for a refund or credit.

To receive a free desk copy of a book:
If you have adopted a UNC Press book for course use and placed an order for 10 or more copies with your campus or a local bookstore, you are entitled to request a free desk copy. Your request, on school letterhead, should include the name of the course and the approximate enrollment. Please include your office telephone number.

Desk copy requests can be faxed to 919-966-3829 or mailed to: Customer Service, University of North Carolina Press, P.O. Box 2288, Chapel Hill, NC 27515-2288.

Q: How can I place an order from UNC Press?

Secure online ordering: Our books can be purchased online with your credit card via our secure online ordering system. Please click on the "Buy" button next to each individual title on our website to begin the process. We accept Mastercard or VISA.

Q: How do I submit a manuscript for consideration?
Our acquisitons editors welcome submissions of manuscripts to UNC Press. Guidelines for submitting a manuscript proposal are available online, including a list of editors and a description of what is to be included in the submission packet. Please send your submission to the editor most appropriate for the subject of your work.

Q: How can I contact an author? We would be happy to forward your correspondence, email or otherwise, to an author but, as a policy, UNC Press does not distribute authors addresses or phone numbers. Queries about authors from the media can be emailed directly to our publicity department.

Q: I need some help with one of UNC Press's electronic publications.

Q: If I am in Chapel Hill and want to buy a book at UNC Press, how do I get there?
It's best to call ahead and make sure that the book you want is currently available at the press. Our regular business hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday through Friday.

We're located at Brooks Hall on the University of North Carolina campus. Our building is brick with tan siding on the corner of South Boundary Street and Hooper Lane, one block off Franklin Street, the main street in Chapel Hill. We are right across from a UNC-CH parking lot called Park Place. Click here for more detailed directions.
