The University Program in Cultural Studies administers a concentration certificate for both MA and doctoral students who wish to augment their field of study with interdisciplinary study in cultural theory and methods. The certificate program allows graduate students to achieve fluency in historical and contemporary critical cultural theories and relate these theories to a variety of individual research questions.
Cultural Studies at the graduate level is distinguished by a willingness to engage perspectives from diverse disciplines rigorously, self-critically, and productively. With individual research projects ranging from the social constructions of disability to the displacement of youth in South Korea, graduate students in Cultural Studies are able to find collaborative spaces to develop both their individual research problems and their collective understandings of the debates that have defined Cultural Studies.
The University Program in Cultural Studies sponsors core Cultural Studies courses, an annual lecture and conference series, graduate and faculty reading groups, a colloquium series for graduate student research, and opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in Cultural Studies.
