SPECIAL ISSUE OF LITERATURE AND BELIEF (Winter, 1997)
"Walker Percy and the Next Millennium"
Submissions are invited for the Winter 1997 Literature and Belief to be guest
edited by Dr. John F. Desmond, Professor of English, Whitman College and
President of the Walker Percy Society and Dr. Bruce Edwards, Professor of
English, Bowling Green State University. The issue will focus on the meaning
and vitality of the life and works of Walker Percy as we head into the new
century. Literature and Belief is published by the Center for the Study of
Christian Values in Literature, 3076E JKHB, editors Richard H. Cracroft and
John J. Murphy, Brigham Young University, Provo, UT 84602.
Any article focusing on Percy will be welcome, but the following subject
matters are especially invited:
- Percy and linguistic/psychoanalytic theory
- Percy's nonfiction and/or apologetics
- Percy's women characters
- Percy's correspondence
- Percy and his relationships/friendships with other Southerners and Southern writers
- Evaluative essays on Percy criticism and bibliography
Queries may be made to the guest editors at their addresses below, but all
submissions should follow these guidelines:
- Preferred length: 15-20 double-spaced pages (3500-5000 words)
- Submissions: the complete text in two hard copies and one disk copy (PC or compatible: WordPerfect 5 1 or Word 5 0; Mac: Word 5 0 formats) via US Mail
- Documentation style: MLA Stylesheet
- Curriculum Vitae (include FAX and e-mail addresses if appropriate)
Proposals and abstracts by November 1, 1995; complete manuscripts by March 1, 1996
