Doug,
I'm not sure this would qualify as daring, but in my Intro to Fiction
course, I'm coupling Lancelot with Palahniuk's Fight Club. This went over
well last spring. Both deal with similar issues, but Percy offers a ray
of hope where FC doesn't (the book's ending is quite different from the
movie's). Even if the ray of hope is simply a "Yes" stated by the priest,
much can be made about redemption, etc. (especially focusing on Fr. John's
development through out the book). FC speaks in a language that the
students are familiar with (it has a sort of nihilisitic MTV "quality"
about it).

Any thoughts?
