Come on, Wade. While I think you are an intelligent person, far better
than I to dash off lengthy postings about your beliefs, can't you please
refrain from trotting out all of the liberal cliches of our time. You
mentioned that this listserv should be a forum for politics. You then
criticized those of us who have tried to get the postings more
"Percy-focused." I don't mind politics, but can it go beyond Bush-bashing?
Your political "arguments" are nothing but anti-Bush rantings. Don't you
think that in a moment of national crisis, you could get beyond your own
ideological prejudices and post something cogent and original? Do you
think that maybe it is time for us to get together and back our leader?
Surely you don't disagree with the way he is handling the situation
(scratch that, I'm sure you do).

Why haven't you responded to the posting that poked holes in your
arguments (was it Tim's?). You throw out cliches about our "under funded
education." But how do you explain other countries who spend far less on
education and produce better results? What about in our own country, when
Catholic schools work with a third of the budget of public schools yet
produce better results? Throwing money at a problem doesn't solve it.

Do you really consider Clinton and Albright "peace makers"? If so, I have
a Serbian student who just arrived this year and might shed a different
light on the situation. (Of course, if you were from Florida, you would
vote Reno (the Waco killer) over Jeb just because you can't get past the
fact that Bush won the election (and what about those "uncounted"
westcoast votes that were turned away by the media when they declared that
Gore was the winner?)).

And, please, do you really think that the Kyoto statement was realistic
and fair?? We are a consumerist, materialistic nation, but do you think
that what was proposed in Kyoto was realistic and something that you could
abide by. (I suppose you also think we were wrong for pulling out of the
anti-Semetic race meeting.)

BTW, don't take this personally. I would love to meet you and take you out
for a beer, but some of this stuff needs a response.
