Dear Percy-L:

Following initial listserv adjustments, the first step of resolving the
recent rash of bounces has been initiated and I am now pursuing advanced
guidance from UNC staff about the matter. Again, sorry for the
inconvenience. Please see my email of yesterday (below) for temporary
options you may wish to employ until the matter is fully resolved

Subject: PERCY-L PROBLEMS BEING ADDRESSED

Dear Percy-L:

OVERVIEW
I apologize for the current flood of error emails. They seem unavoidable
until a final batch of defunct accounts are identified and cleared out from
the system. It is very important that list members ALWAYS unsubscribe from
the list before abandoning an email address at any time. I was not aware
that this set of error emails was bouncing to the list, thinking it was only
arriving in the administrator's box. Thank you to the member who notified me
of the problem. Because I need to confer with tech admin at UNC about
software settings, it will probably be Monday afternoon before this matter
is resolved. I thank you for your patience until that time.

RECOMMENDATIONS
I have two recommendations for disposing of the error messages in your box:

1. Sort your email by subject in your In Box, and then select all the error
messages as a group and delete.

2. Set up a filter that directs all error messages into a separate mail/box
folder, where you can then later delete en masse after the problem is
resolved.

3. As a last resort, you can use the "unsubscribe" function in the top of
one of your UNC list emails (for instance, the new "Percy-L Guidelines"
document), and then after a few days, use the "subscribe" function found in
the same header to rejoin the list.
The first option is the easiest and should take no more than a few short
moments to execute (unless you are using a proprietary interface like AOL,
which tends to be less flexible).

Again, thank you for your patience. Until further notice, please postpone
any further list discussion.
