Both Jim and Rhonda have said "The Second Coming"
is one of their favorite Percy novels. Wade said it
"never worked for me as a novel."
The literature class I am in now has read "Lancelot,"
"Love in the Ruins," and "The Second Coming." It seems
most people think Lancelot is a much better book.
Of course, "better" is a very ambiguous word.
I wonder why "The Second Coming" does or does not appeal
to you (anyone). In my case, I don't really like the bit
of romance Percy has put it. It seems awkward, but perhaps
that is because of the abnormal couple.
"Lancelot" seems to have a great deal more philosophical
ponderings. Is this true, or are they just more subtle in
"The Second Coming."
Is there a work Percy liked most; felt most proud of?
What work do people generally tend to think is his best?
