Hi all,
I just joined the Percy-L list group and thought I'd comply with the
e-mailed suggestion I received and send one out introducing myself, as it
were. I write and teach American Literature at the University of
Florida--I taught a class on the 20th century American novel in Spring and
taught a seminar on Tennessee Williams' later plays this past June, both
of which I designed. The class pages for each as well as my "Winter Place
Home Page" can be found at http://kmcgowin.cjb.net; the Winter Place page
is or peripheral interest to Southern literature and I'd be grateful if
you'd take a look and sign the guestbook. An expanded article from my
BRIGHTLEAF piece on Winter Place appears in this coming Sunday's Mobile
Register.
Because I did all my doctoral work here at UF I'm currently "on the
market", but I'll be teaching here in the fall I think, probably a Joseph
Conrad seminar and 1102 in which I'll use MOVIEGOER. Otherwise, let's
see...I was born in Birmingham, like WP, and have lived at various times
in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, Cincinnati and Denver.
I'm married and have four cats. I collect antique and vintage typewriters
which I actually use daily for my own fiction. I'm in my early 30s. And
because I rather dislike the facelessness of the web, I've taken the
liberty of attaching a smallish JPEG image of myself, with Richard Ford
last week in New Orleans.
All Best,
Kevin McGowin
