Dear Richard:
Thank you for a splendid commentary. Now that I have received various
commentaries to my short breezy response to Nikki's original note on WP and
Hemingway, I'm more eager than ever to re-read WP within the Hemingway
connexion.
I'm truly grateful for the incredible knowledge that members of this listserv
possess.
Next Wednesday, the 100th anniversary of Hemingway's birthday, I will be
selecting passages from Hem's writings which "Talk of the Nation" will use
during their one-hour programme on Hemingway's life and writings and read by
various individuals.
I very much hope that we can do this for a WP anniversary. Given that "The
Moviegoer" will, inshallah, be filmed in 2000 (Andi MacDowell bought the
rights and is set to produce it--she must have obtained those rights from
Karen Black. I'm assuming that Miss MacDowell will portray Kate), I very much
plan a stratagem to have my company do at least one piece, ideally an entire
hour programme, on WP.
I will say no more on the Stoa on this list. I'll just write and publish my
thoughts elsewhere.
Many thanks,
Alphonse
