Yikes, you're probably right. I guess I took him too Ernestly. So maybe
the jokes on me after all. Serves me right for being so critical!
Actually though, I did think Henderson was supposed to be over the top
but I thought that Bellow's somehow intended this to be admirable, the
privilege or mark of genius or some such. But enough of my bellows. You
folks are better than the Saturday Review (just to give you some idea
when I last read a book). Thanks for the thoughtful comments and best
to all.
