Eudora Welty Collection

The personal papers and manuscripts of Miss Welty are housed in Jackson, Mississippi at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. The collection also contains Miss Welty's photographs, printed works and correspondence. All items were given by Miss Eudora Welty herself.

The library is located in the Charolette Capers Building at 100 South State Street, Jackson Mississippi. It is open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM- 5:00PM, and on Saturdays 8:00AM- 1:00PM. The library is generally closed on major holidays.

While the collection exists to provide public access to valuable primary sources, the department enforces strict guidelines geared to protect Miss Welty's artistic, copyright and personal interests. Namely, advance permission must be obtained from both the Division Director and the Collection Curator before any research of the materials may begin.
