Eudora Welty SocietyThe Eudora Welty Society organizes seasonal conferences on Eudora Welty and publishes a periodic newletter.As of 1997, the society is composed of about 85 scholars and patrons dedicated to Miss Welty's work. Among the society's functions are brainstorming and selecting topics for academic conferences hosted by the American Literature Association, the Modern Language Association, and the Society for the Study of Southern Literature. Periodically the Society mails out a newletter to their members reciting the minutes from recently held meetings, reporting the details of both recently-occurred and upcoming conferences (they print the titles of papers given at conferences), soliciting topic proposals for upcoming conferences, and announcing calls for papers. Biannually the society awards the Welty Prize to two members. They offer current news on Welty scholarship, mainly of interest to Welty Scholars They offer a printed roster of all of the Society's members. Most recently the society sponsered an International Welty Conference April 10-12, 1997 at Milsaps college in Jackson, Mississippi. Membership is available to those persons with an interest in Welty's work. Membership fees are $10 for two years.
