Dell computers ended the suspense by naming Winston-Salem as the site for a new manufacturing plant. Winston-Salem and two other Triad cities, Greensboro and High Point, had been competing with each other to woo Dell. The neighborhing cities engaged in an arms race of incentive packages- offering Dell millions on top of what the state offered to bring Dell to North Carolina. But Winston-Salem\’s success hasn\’t settled the debate over whether incentives are the best way to create new jobs. WUNC\’s Rusty Jacobs reports.
