NC Voices – Donna Latimer

Donna Latimer grew up in eastern North Carolina in the 1960s. Her grandfather was a sharecropper. She spent her childhood on the farm picking peanuts and tobacco. Today she helps low income women with job training and encourages them to speak out about the needs of their communities. Latimer describes herself as a woman who overcame the odds but is still only one paycheck away from poverty. Emily Hanford has Donna Latimer’s story as part of our series “North Carolina Voices: Understanding Poverty.”
