Hooverville

Friday, January 13th, 2006

John Bemis and Greg Hanson formed a friendship and performing duo out of their mutual love for the harmonizing, brother country acts popular in the 1940s. Now the duet is a quartet and Tuesday marks the release of their second album, “Follow That Trail of Dust Back Home.” Host Eric Hodge talks with the members of Hooverville, and the band performs their mix of country, bluegrass, honky-tonk and Tex-Mex live in the studio. Local Food

Friday, January 13th, 2006

This week, The Lantern Restaurant in Chapel Hill held a special dinner: every course consisted of either chicken or eggs from a farm less than 15 miles away. Host Eric Hodge talks with the chef, Andrea Ruesing; farmers Ben Bergmann and Noah Ranells of Fickle Creek Farm; and Tony Kleese, executive director of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, about the movement to produce, buy, and sell more locally-grown food in North Carolina. The conversation is preceded by a feature from producer Cori Princell, who visited Fickle Creek Farm and tracked the meal from farm to table. Listener Call-In. (40:00)
