Medicare

The first week of Medicare’s new drug benefit plan has led to confusion and longer lines at pharmacies in North Carolina and across the country. Seniors and others eligible for the benefit now have 38 different insurance plans from which to choose. Host Frank Stasio looks at the decisions they face, and how the complex program came into existence. Guests include: Gina Upchurch, executive director of Senior PHARMAssist, a pharmaceutical care clinic in Durham; Kevin Schulman, director of the Health Sector Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business; and Mike James, owner of the Person Street Pharmacy in Raleigh.
