participants will be asked to bring their track library with them with a number of playlists predefined (itunes, a common piece of software, allows the creation of playlists). These track libraries will serve as a surrogate for a customized environment for the purposes of the study. The participant's library will be imported into the browser where playlists will be mapped to track groups. Each user will have a track selected randomly from their library to start the 'set'. They will then be asked to continue the set with 4 more tracks that they will select using the audio browser interface. After a track has been selected and a portion has been played, the participant will be asked to skip to the last minute of the track and select another. This will continue until the user has selected 4 tracks. users will complete the task described above with a conventional layout (similar to iTunes) and complete the same task with the experimental layout. All aspects of the design will be constant between the two interface variants except the layout of the tracks. After each iteration of the task users will fill out a questionaire designed to measure satisfaction with their performance of the task, satisfaction with the interface and other measures of of the success of the interface.
