POSITION AVAILABLE: GRANT CATALOGER-FLORIDA
PROJECT CATALOGER (time limited one year)
Under the auspices of a grant project funded by LSTA (Library Services and
Technology Act), the Project Cataloger catalogs significant uncataloged
special collections selected by eight Florida state universities. Creates
collection level records using AACR2, Library of Congress subject headings,
and MARC format specifications. With the University of Florida as home
institution, the project cataloger travels to each participating state
university for periods up to a week at a time to complete initial
collection-level description onsite in the special collections departments.
Reviews and revises records at home institution and contributes to national
database.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school or
Bachelors degree and three years relevant experience.
Cataloging experience in archives and/or special collections.
Knowledge of AACR2, Library of Congress subject headings, MARC formats,
OCLC, and use of an online cataloging system.
Ability to work effectively in an academic library environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to interact effectively and productively in a team environment.
Ability to work successfully within a project schedule.
Experience with PC hardware and various Windows-based applications.
SALARY AND RANK
This is a time limited one year non-tenure track grant position at the rank
of Assistant In. The salary range is $32,000-$36,000.
