Re: Offline Lexicon App

What is perhaps noteworthy is that once it is downloaded, no internet connection is needed for use. Maybe there are other free apps that do this offline for inflected forms, but i haven't found them yet. I find the offline ability very useful. My iOS app GreekKit will do this, but the functionality...

Re: Unicode Greek friendly Unix tools

I would say stick with Perl. This kind of thing is where Perl really excels. I was able to work with Perl for processing Unicode Greek texts with much greater ease than would have been possible with other programming languages. Compared to Python or Ruby? What advantages do you see? My impression i...

Re: Unicode Greek friendly Unix tools

While I do basic stuff on the Unix command line, I switch to Python for anything involving sorting. Thanks for the pointer to your code. I'm more of Perl person, but I'll see what I can learn. Re: Greek Language Learning Software

Initially it'll be only a windows application and hopefully from there an android app however I've never tried crossing something over to android because you have to buy an additional software package. I've done some Android programming, and I'm not aware of any additional software packages that yo...

Re: Greek Language Learning Software

Hi Chris, It sounds like a worthwhile project. What is the platform? I would caution, however, that the restriction to modern pronunciation is likely to limit you to a very small user base. The number of people willing to buy biblical Greek apps and in-app purchases is already tiny (from my own expe...

Re: Words Unique to Luke?

Does anyone know where I can find a list of GNT words unique to Luke? Hi Thomas, My free iPhone program GreekKit can generate lists like this easily, and you can also customize the list to remove person names or words of certain parts of speech. It can also show you the exact locations of those wor...

Re: How do I know which aorist a verb is conjugated in?

Here's something I'm working on for my iPhone program GreekKit. This feature will be available next week. It shows all forms of a given word as they appear in the NA28. (Forms that are not in the NA28 are not listed). It also identifies second aorists, second perfects, and other such info. http://ww...

Greetings

Hello, My name is Casey Perkins. I live in Nashville, TN, and have been studying Greek for 11 years. I've never had a class, but have been using books, audio lectures, etc. I've lurked here for a while and have appreciated many of the conversations. Textual criticism is a big interest of mine. I'm a...

Re: Koine Greek Software libs?

I've been playing with various ideas, and realized the biggest bottleneck of a potential project like this teaching a script to recognize the lexical form of a word, and have it use that to cross reference a lexicon. I'm still pretty fresh as far as software development and stuff is concerned, so t...
