Re: Koine Greek Whatsapp group

Hi Jason People can probably implement it in many ways that are helpful for them. At the moment we chat primarily with text messages (we do not use voice messages, since some people do not have the same accents). Every now and again we might post a small video with a textual description of what's ha...

Koine Greek Whatsapp group

Hi guys

I started whatsapp groups to chat in Koine Greek. There is a group for beginners and a group for more advanced writers (maybe later on I'll start an intermediate group). If you are interested in joining one of the groups, or both, send me a personal message. The more the merrier.

Re: Meaning of ἀπέθανον ([all] died) in 2 Cor. 5:14

I was wondering: So some people interpret ἀπέθανον as a potential death and others as an actual death (all are potentially saved or actually saved; @ Paul Nitz all have an actual meal or a potential meal) Can one make an argument that since ἀπέθανον is in die indicative mood, that it is more plausib...

Re: Meaning of ἀπέθανον ([all] died) in 2 Cor. 5:14

Thanks for the feedback!

This text just is a hard nut to crack. Sometimes I want to despair and wonder why God made some parts of the Bible so difficult to understand.

Re: Meaning of ἀπέθανον ([all] died) in 2 Cor. 5:14

Are there any studies on ἀποθνήσκω in Pauline literature which I can go read up on?

P.S.
I noticed that you use the infinitive ἀποθνήσκειν καὶ ἀποθάνειν, rather than the indicative 1st person to refer to words. Why is that?

Re: Hi, I'm Friedrich de Wet

The search function helps a lot, thanks! This is a great platform to get an orientation as to what is going on in the Koine world.

Is there a website devoted to writing in Koine? I'm looking for something like a chatroom. I would love to practice writing as well.

English-Koine Greek Lexicon

Hallo I'm teaching my wife Greek and want to write her stories that are on her level. Sometimes I struggle to get a word and have to go through a long process of thinking where I read the word in the New Testament or the Old Testament and then look it up in the Greek texts. Is an online lexicon avai...

Hi, I'm Friedrich de Wet

χαίρετε παντές I'm from South Africa and currently busy with an Ma in Koine Greek. I want to study the New Testament better in order to understand God's revelation better. However, I just love reading Greek for the sake of reading Greek as well. I hope to one day be able to read Greek almost as flue...

Re: Meaning of ἀπέθανον ([all] died) in 2 Cor. 5:14

Hi Barry Thanks for the reply. The problem for me is that hermeneutics point me to go and investigate the word ἀπέθανον and my theology should ultimately be informed from the text. Everything, it seems, boils down to the meaning of ἀποθνήσκω in this text. In BDAG there are basically four possible me...
