Re: Accenting in -σις, -εως nouns

Never mind. I found it in §271, it's accented as if the ending -εος hadn't lengthened, and there doesn't appear to be a digamma lurking behind it. I must be confusing it with something else.

Morale of the story, check Smyth 6 times before posting, not just 4–5!

Accenting in -σις, -εως nouns

I'm in the process of editing a second year Koine reader and while checking the vocabulary lists, it suddenly hit me that the accenting on -σις, -εως nouns appears anomalous. Re: Determining Genitive Masculine and Neuter, and Dative Plural Gender

When you are learning vocabulary, you should learn the gender (based on the article in the nominative singular), as well as the meaning. Re: Luke 12:32 τὸ μικρὸν ποίμνιον

von Siebenthal §148b 2c has this as an example. He states, "When nominative noun phrases are used as vocatives (especially in cases where vocative forms exist), KG typically adds the article" (p. 225)

Oral Latin/Greek

OK, not really Greek, but this is about teaching spoken Latin with a reference to an Attic-Greek-speaking person. Possibly of interest: https://psyche.co/ideas/speaking-latin-brings-an-unmediated-thrill-to-the-classics What is noteworthy is that the person is a professor at Oxford! He started out le...

Did you check out his resource page? He has a section entitled Vocabulary
https://www.billmounce.com/resources

And I see that Quizlet has a whole slew of Mounce-related vocab quizzes:
