Re: γραφει τους λογους

However, Latin must always be pronounced using classical pronunciation, regardless of what certain forum members may think. You know who you are. I refuse to take the bait every time someone commends the heathen pronunciation of Latin. C'mon - how do you sing the Ave Maria ???? I was taught the "we...

I have taken the liberty of updating your screen name to reflect your real name, via B-Greek policy -- BH ********** My name is Scott Verreault and I am married with two children and another on the way! I have just started learning Greek. I have purchased a Koine Greek New Testament ( Textus Recept...

Re: In 1 Peter 3:22 is the subjugation complete or ongoing?

Dear Bill The New Testament (in whatever language) isn't a book for doing grammar chops - it's a book to read with reflection and prayer, to let it speak to us. Learning Greek, and reading the GNT is one of the ways of slowing us down and forcing us to read the text more carefully. I'd encourage you...

Re: In Revelation 11:15 to whom does βασιλεύσει refer?

Let me start over... In Revelation 11:15 who is the subject of βασιλεύσει?: Revelation 11:15 καὶ ὁ ἕβδομος ἄγγελος ἐσάλπισεν καὶ ἐγένοντο φωναὶ μεγάλαι ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ λέγοντες ἐγένετο ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ κόσμου τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν καὶ τοῦ Χριστοῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ βασιλεύσει εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων Sorry to have o...

Re: English to Koine Greek Lexicon

Thank you so much - this looks like a great start - and a lot of work done already.
I tried it, using "book" as the search word - and it brought up all the Books of the Bible. Is there a way to fix that sort of thing ?
Thank you so much

Re: Modern Greek Translations of the Bible/New Testament

I tried the link for the EPE given above, and got "No text available for the selected Bible." I trolled to other sections of the GNT for the EPEdition, and also got "No text available for the selected Bible." Shirley Rollinson I think I fixed the link. Does it work for you now? Thank you - nice cle...

It wasn't too long ago that most people who learned Greek were already exposed to Latin. Now I guess we're seeing more of the other way round.
If only my students had already been exposed to English grammar :-)

Re: Modern Greek Translations of the Bible/New Testament

I am curious if anyone here has much experience with Modern Greek translations of the Bible/New Testament. Which ones are used mainstream in Greece among different churches (that aren't traditionally reading the original)? I don't really know the answer. The most widely used original text is the 19...

Re: ὄνομα and ὄνομά. What's the difference?

- - - snip snip - - - ********** I'm not a student of Greek but this is the only page that showed up when I searched for this exact form of ὄνομά. I am researching the Greek behind Revelation 3:12 and noticed two different forms of the word ὄνομα and ὄνομά. What's the difference? I'm curious why it...
