In Mark 14:12, how should ὅτε τὸ πάσχα ἔθυον be understood?

[Mark 14:12 MGNT] (12) καὶ τῇ πρώτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν ἀζύμων ὅτε τὸ πάσχα ἔθυον λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ποῦ θέλεις ἀπελθόντες ἑτοιμάσωμεν ἵνα φάγῃς τὸ πάσχα It seems that imperfect of πάσχα with the singular of ἔθυον is normally taken to be describing the custom that the Passover was killed on the f...

Re: Is this a legitimate translation of Hebrews 1:8?

So after all this helpful feedback and reviewing various resources I'm inclined now to go with the way the JPS version, Rashi and Liddell usage I.4 offer, and that is "Your throne, O judge,...". JPS Psalms 45: 7Your throne, O judge, [will exist] forever and ever; the scepter of equity is t...

In Deuteronomy 12:5 lxx, what is the sense of ἐκλέξηται?

Logeion parses this as an aorist middle subjunctive 3rd singular of ἐκλέγω: https://logeion.uchicago.edu/morpho/%E1%BC%90%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%AD%CE%BE%CE%B7%CF%84%CE%B1%CE%B9 What is that, (to my mind, convoluted) construction communicating? Thanks. Note: This was brought up on another site, here: https:...

Re: Is this a legitimate translation of Hebrews 1:8?

Okay, so I found this in Liddell: θεός , ὁ, Boeot. θιός , Lacon. σιός (v. infr.), Cypr., Cret. θιός Inscr.Cypr.135.27 H., Leg.Gort.1.1, Dor. also θεύς Call.Cer.58; acc. θεῦν v.l. ib.130; voc. (only late) θεός, also ... http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus:text:1999.04.0057:entry=qeo/...

Re: Is this a legitimate translation of Hebrews 1:8?

Well that's a confusing entry, then: Adjective θεός • (theós) divine (used only in comparative: θεώτερος (theṓteros)) If that is the case (and I suppose you are right) then my original question is moot. Interestingly, the JPS has this for the Hebrew: JPS Psalms 45: 7 Your throne, O judge, [will exis...
