Both of these words are translated as "money changers". But clearly there must be some slight difference in the literal meaning.
Is it safe to say that κερματιστής refers to one who handles κερμα (coins) while κολλυβιστής is literally "money changer"?

Re: ἄρτι vs νῦν
But why would there be two different words that mean exactly the same thing? Surely there is a slightly different meaning?
Why wouldn't an author just use one of them as opposed to using them in different places in the same book to describe things?

Conjugation of φέρω: ἤνεγκαν, ἠνέχθη, etc?
Some of the forms of φέρω seem totally unrelated to φέρω in just about every visual way. Is there any way to explain why φέρω looks so different in these forms?

Aorist Imperatives
What exactly do aorist imperatives mean? How should they be translated?
When I read an Aorist Active Imperative in the text, it seems like it should be Present instead. Is there something i'm missing?

Re: Textual Critical Issue: John 1:28 Bethany or Bethabara?
Hey Stephen, thanks for your response. This is rather problematic for me. You see, the text (cf. Matthew, Mark) says that John was baptizing in the wilderness of Judea , and in the Gospel of John it says it was in the Jordan - he's more specific it seems. The only place where these two seem to overl...

Textual Critical Issue: John 1:28 Bethany or Bethabara?
In John 1:28 there is a textual variant. The NA28 has Bethany as the main reading. (In my opinion, I would also have said it was the original reading given the manuscript evidence.) A few questions for anyone who is into textual criticism: 1. Could Bethabara actually be the original reading in John ...

Re: NT quotations of the Old Testament
The Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament is an interesting and very useful work, and in essence serves the purpose... but it isn't exactly what i'm looking for... I'm looking more for a simple compilation (for lack of a better word) of the quotes and how they compare/contrast in ...
