Re: The perceived authority, role and difficulty of Greek
My struggle with my Greek courses was that there was too much to cover in 3 hour per week courses, with about 10 translation sentences (didn't help that the answer booklet that goes with our textbook was not proofread before being published), and a handout sheet with a few basic questions drawn up b...

other gamma nasals
I'm well aware that gamma nasals occur when a gamma is followed by another gamma, or a kappa, chi, or xi. But when about instances such as the kappa-chi in words such as ἐκχέω? Is the kappa in this word pronounced as a gamma nasal?

Jeremiah 17:1-4
I have Rahlfs-Hanhart Septuagint, which I got as a birthday present, and I don't have any formal training on the LXX. I'm just wondering why the first four verses in Jeremiah is missing? It skips from 16:21 to 17:5.

Re: NT Greek and Careers
Schoolwise, you're best bet sounds like a either a Classical Studies program that gives you the option to specialize or at least offer a lot of courses on the archaeology of Greece and Rome, and NT Greek although they will want you to do Classical Greek instead probably. So you might consider a New ...

Re: List of Koine literature?
AT TLG (Thesaurus Linguae Graecae [why a universal Greek project would write its title in Latin is symptomatic of deeper problems, related to people who would refer to the Greek NT as "Novum Testamentum Graece". go figure.]) I've been wondering the same thing. I also have Rahlfs-Hanhart's...

List of Koine literature?
Is there a URL or website that lists the Greek literature of the Koine period? I only know of websites simply contain various works of all of Ancient Greece that aren't divided by era.

Re: Sarah Howell
I participate in an online forum which has a mix of believers and unbelievers posting. We have vigorous discussions about the Bible. Whilst posting there I often wish that my knowledge of Greek was more extensive than it is. (None of the other participants appear to have any knowledge of Greek apar...

Re: Sentence Diagramming
As I struggle with word order and such in working through translation, my mind turns to the question of sentence diagramming. When in the self-study of Greek would one recommend that one pursue the discipline of diagramming? And what text, texts or media are most instructive in this pursuit? I'm no...

Re: Vocabulary Cards Incorporating Pictures
Devenios, Instead of, or in addition to, PowerPoint, may I recommend Anki ( http://ankisrs.net/ )? It is a powerful flashcard program that supports pictures and audio within flashcards. If you have a Mac there's a wonderful easy-to-use program called iFlash http://www.loopware.com/iflash/ that can ...
