Re: The negation of perfect verb forms

I have stumbled across Verbal Aspect Theory and the Prohibitions in the Greek New Testament today, I don't have time to read it, but skimming the Table of Contents suggests, unless I missed it, it has sections on all indicative verb forms except the perfect.

Re: The negation of perfect verb forms

The perfect refers simply to completed action, and the negated perfect to action not completed In English, If I say " The window is not broken " it is saying something about the present state at time of speaking. If I say, " The window was not broken ", then I am stating somethi...

Re: Please recommend a Reader's GNT

Thanks Stephen. I guess my point is that coming across variants from the more standard greek text's becomes a distraction from reading. Usually I begin thinking, "Wait, that doesn't sound right (in the greek), and then I discover its an NIV textual decision, and I am like, really? and I have to...

Re: The negation of perfect verb forms

This is a great question. I am doing a thesis on the perfect at the moment. I need to think about it a little.

Re: Please recommend a Reader's GNT

Re: In that Day

I wonder if usage of ‘In’ vs ‘on’ might hen an attempt to communicate a subtlety different meaning. I.e. on that day. Vs in those days. (Day referring to a specific day or a general era)

Database of Categorisation of verbs according to (for example) Wallace?

Is there such a thing as a database that catalogues verbs across the New Testament. So you can ask things like 'How many many Perfects are "Aoristic Perfects"'

I know various features of verbs are debatable, but some form of database/catalogue might just be more useful than none at all 😄

Re: Beginner grammar in Accordance vs. paper

Rodney Decker's Reading Koine Greek , as well as Mounce's works are available in Accordance. They cost quite a bit more there than in print, but I'm wondering if it is worth it. I prefer physical books, however for practical purposes, I almost always go digital, it means I always have the books wit...

Thanks for sharing that article, it is extremely helpful. Much appreciated.

PS: I’m looking forward to reading your discourse book. It’s is on the top of my ‘Things I’m going to read when I finish my thesis’ stack at home :D
