Re: χαιρε· σημρον γαρ ὁ θεος ἐγενετο ὁ ἀνθροπος
Another little comment: I wondered whether maybe the present tense would be better in the proposed greeting than the aorist. Patristic biblical exposition is I think normally a matter of appropriation and actualization rather than archaeology. But the aorist is used with "today." E.g., aga...

Re: χαιρε· σημρον γαρ ὁ θεος ἐγενετο ὁ ἀνθροπος
Regarding the use of "today": it seemed to me that this usage must surely be common in homilies on the nativity (and on any feast day, really), so I took a look. A homily ΕΙΣ ΤΗΝ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΙΝ ΤΟΥ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ in the pseudo-Athanasian corpus (MPG 28:906) opens thus: Μυστήριον ξένον βλέπω, ἀντὶ ἡλίου...

Re: Acts 2:4, the article with the/a holy spirit
If you have the time and are interested, you might check out some earlier B-greekers on this question: Athenasius of Alexandria, Epistulae ad Serapionem de Spiritu Sancto; Basil of Caesarea, De Spiritu Sancto. Sorry I don't have time to locate for you specific passages where the discuss the use of t...

Re: Oecumenius - Ad Thess 457.7ff
Peter, it appears that no one has responded. I will try . . . > What does Oecumenius mean by "οὐκ ἐπίπλαστον ἔχοντες τοῦτο τὸ ὄνομα". I am guessing that "this name" without further specifier refers to the name of "Christian." So I think this phrase means "not beari...

Re: Funk BIGHG
Sounds like you're all set. I was surprised when he told me Polebridge was planning a new edition because I thought that was what y'all were doing. In the normal course of things I never see the Polebridge folk--just kind of fell into their booth at SF.

Re: Funk BIGHG
I think you should check in with Polebridge Press unless you have an executed legal document in hand. At SBL I spoke with someone from Polebridge who said they were planning to reprint and knew nothing about your work. So I'm afraid there's some confusion or miscommunication somewhere.

Bruce (Richard's son) is also a distinguished NT scholar. Formerly at St Andrew's, he is now at Baylor.
