Function of "ἐξ" and "ἐν" in Luke 10:27

The relevant portion of Luke 10:27
ἀγαπήσεις κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐξ ὅλης [τῆς] καρδίας σου καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ ψυχῇ σου καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ ἰσχύϊ σου καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ τῇ διανοίᾳ σου
I understand the instrumental use of ἐν (which is basically what I see going on here) but I'm interested in the function of ἐξ specifically in contrast to ἐν.
