Hi ya,
Could anyone recommend a decent history of the Greek language ?
Colvin's on Ancient Greek looks really good though pricey. I'm trying to get a decent sketch, in some detail, of Greek from inception (say 1000 BC, if that is indeed inception) to modern times. Some grammars contain some of this sort of information but I think it's time I read something more avowedly devoted to the topic.
Thx
