Noto fonts from Google

Post by Eeli Kaikkonen »

This is old news but has gone under my radar. Google has released a very large font family, intending to eventually cover all unicode characters. I haven't tested it yet, but Ancient Greek should be covered by Noto Sans and Noto Serif. Many other scripts, including Hebrew and Linear B, are in their own font files (just use the search feature).

Noto Serif isn't bad for polytonic Greek.

Cardo is still my favorite for my class notes. It does have one glitch - the rough breathing mark + rho doesn't look right. I've tried and failed to contact the creator.

Cardo is open source so it's possible to fix it e.g. using FontForge. Maybe someone will take the task if you show what it should look like...

That would be great. It's simply a matter of too much space between the rough breathing mark and rho.
