Another new guy, with a question

Hey all, just got here. I'm starting with Mounce's Basics but would like to add conversational Koine to my process. I've started to believe Olly Richard's talk about story-learning, and I'd like to find something to supplement my Mounce. If you're not familiar with Olly and story-learning, his basic position is that reading appropriate skill level stories. Even if you don't get everything, it lets your mind absorb the natural constructs for the language. That absorption, in turn, builds connections when you do learn the words/endings/grammar.

Is there a good source for learning the Koine version of "Hello, my name is <>, what's your's? I am a <>, what do you do?"

Thanks!

Leam

Hi Leam,

Have a look at BLC (https://www.biblicallanguagecenter.com/). They do online (via zoom) conversational Koine Greek and Hebrew. And they do the Koine version of "Hello, my name is <>, what's your's? I am a <>, what do you do?" and so on. I've done the first three Greek with them and really enjoyed them.

Thx
D

BLC looks pretty good, though the on-line classes are a bit pricy for me. I usually prefer a book and some audio for the first while, since I'm a slow learner. For me, classes are better after a bit.

I have found, as a perpetual student, that my brain learns best with a combination of written and sound information. Pretty much in that order of priority, although I sometimes switch them to get an overview via sound and then do the actual learning via a book.

Not sure why my brain doesn't prioritize sound, but I've come to accept it. I can acclimate from an audio but I cannot learn.
