Greek Grammar Terms List?

Post by Wes Wood »

Does anyone have or know where I can access a list of Attic/Koine Greek grammatical terms? If such a thing exists, it would save me valuable time. Thanks!

Another place is the headings of A. T. Robertson's reference grammar. He provides Greek language equivalents for many grammatical terms.

Hi Wes, did you have any initial leads? A quick google search yields things like:

Thank you all for the help. These look like they will be more than adequate for what I need. Emma, I never saw any results like the second item you listed when I did a quick search. Unfortunately, I wasn't taught and have never learned more than two ways to do web searches: with quotation marks and without. If I were given a computer skills exam and they wrote on my paper 'abysmal failure,' I would celebrate, knowing they had given me too much credit.

Do you have a page number citation for terms in AT Robertson? I host a .doc AT Robertson grammar online which is at http://www.letsreadgreek.org/resources/ ... ongrammar/.

We have had this discussion about grammatical terms on B-Greek earlier. Elenor Dickey's book 'Ancient Greek Scholarship,' is the place to look. All other compilation of terms will produce sub-standard lists of terms. The thread can be found at http://www.ibiblio.org/bgreek/forum/vie ... ckey#p9864.

There is agreement on the simple terms for parts of speech, such as noun, verb, adjective, pronoun, adverb, participle. But more precise terminology is harder to pin down.

Off topic, but this was a good illustration about my lack of searching skills. I entered those words in the search bar at the top of the page, and the search returned a message saying those words were too common to search for. :?

Seumas McDonald keeps a nice list of grammatical terms in Greek at this address:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

I go to it often and sometimes contribute a term or a correction.

I just bought this book. It's impressively good, much better than the other book I had bought for this purpose.
