Nice rewrite, and I have something similar to this, although it still has the mistake Τινὶ ἠμέρᾳ (I should really know better, but oh well). I actually did it as embedded stories for Latin students and then decided to do it for Greek as well, so there are a couple of versions. Here is the final Latin:

Olim urso viso in silvis vir ambulabat. Vir clamavit “ursos amo!” et deinde e sarcina cibum extrahit quem urso dedit. Ursus ita gavisus est ut amicus viri factus esset. Quo facto subito leonem adeuntem viderunt ut vir clamaverit “detesto leones!” et currere incepit. Sed ursus leonem persecutus est qui celeriter fugit. Vir maius clamavit “Ego vere ursos amo!”
