The basic complaint of the review is that in several places Con Campbell's scope is too narrow, and the response is basically "yeah, but that's what I wanted." Fair enough, to an extent.

I'd say that the problem with Campbell's limiting the scope of the discussion of verbal aspect to only what NT scholars are saying is that the NT scholarship on verbal aspect has been in a bubble for the past twenty-five years. Because of his own stance in the discussion, Campbell probably wasn't ideally situated to pop the bubble, and I agree with the reviewers that this is a lost opportunity. On the plus side, he seemed open to considering mainstream (my characterization) approaches to tense and aspect if someone were to apply them to the New Testament. He just won't be the one do so.

The basic complaint was that Campbell isn't qualified to write chapters 1-2.
