Case Frame Analysis

Post by Brent Niedergall »

Case Frame Analysis is a helpful linguistic approach to reading the Greek New Testament. If you've never heard of it before or are interested in learning more, I wrote an accessible introduction to the subject for the Logos Academic Blog. You can read it here: https://academic.logos.com/case-frame-a ... r-dummies/

This methodology hasn't received a whole lot of attention in NT studies. Has anyone else had much experience with case frame analysis and/or Danove's work before?

This is really useful data - I have Danove's data and am very impressed by it. It's cool to see this in Logos, and I like your article on this.

I do think it's important to make this more accessible. And a good lexicon, informed by case frame analysis, may be the ideal place to do this.

Thanks for the response Jonathan. I agree on the usefulness of the data for sure. It seems to have really flown under the radar. Maybe it's because he teaches at a Roman Catholic university?

There is a brief mention of it in the recently published Linguistics and Biblical Exegesis pp. 193–195. https://www.amazon.com/Linguistics-Bibl ... 423&sr=8-1

My hope in writing this was to generate more interest in case frame analysis. Maybe someone will take up the lexicographical challenge!
