Might any of you know the correlation between the Greek word for Law and
Music?
I have been told that they are the same word in Greek. If someone can
substantiate that claim and provide some insight as to "why" their are not
separate
words, I would most appreciate it.
_____________
The word for "law" in Greek is NOMOS. This word also happens to be used for
"melody" or "strain." Why? I don't know. Why does English use bear for
1. an animal
2. to carry
3. to move in a particular direction ("bear left at the fork in the road")
or, why does "bad" sometimes mean "good"?
That's just the way language works.
