As noted in Danker hILASTHRION is the neuter singular of hILASTHRIOS, -
A, -ON which functions as a substantive, i.e. it behaves syntactically
as a noun, occupies a noun slot. LEH shows 27 LXX occurrences as a
noun and one as an adjective.
