I seem to recall posting on this topic before. Reading Soph OC 1626-28
1626 KALEI GAR AUTON POLLA POLLACHi QEOS:
1627 W hOUTOS hOUTOS, OIDIPOUS, TI MELLOMEN
1628 CWREIN PALAI DH T'APO SOU BRADUNETAI.
It looks like in PALAI DH T'APO SOU BRADUNETAI, APO is used to mark
the agent of BRADUNETAI. I could be wrong. I went looking in Danker
(BDAG) under APO (page 107.5.e.beta) where he cites several examples
including:
ACTS 2:22 ANDRES ISRAHLITAI, AKOUSATE TOUS LOGOUS TOUTOUS: IHSOUN TON
NAZWRAION, ANDRA APODEDEIGMENON APO TOU QEOU EIS hUMAS DUNAMESI KAI
TERASI KAI SHMEIOIS hOIS EPOIHSEN DI AUTOU hO QEOS EN MESWi hUMWN
KAQWS AUTOI OIDATE,
ACTS 4:36 IWSHF DE hO EPIKLHQEIS BARNABAS APO TWN APOSTOLWN, hO ESTIN
MEQERMHNEUOMENON hUIOS PARAKLHSEWS, LEUITHS, KUPRIOS TWi GENEI,
Where APODEDEIGMENON APO TOU QEOU and hO EPIKLHQEIS ... APO TWN
APOSTOLWN appear to show APO functioning like UPO as a marker of
agency. In one or more of Danker's examples there are APO/UPO variant
readings -- open to several explanations.
