<As I was waking up, under the weather, feverish, I wondered how to
say 'relax!'.
ANAPAY'-OY αναπαυου 'be resting' didn't seem to capture the
transfer from a 'tense-state' to a relaxed state.
But ANA'-PAYSAI αναπαυσαι , the aorist, seemed to fit.
I don't like to rely on 'aspect' to communicate a different semantic
sense, but maybe this could work. What do you think?>
Hi, Randall,
Although it uses a different word and a different voice, LXX
Psalm 45:11 (46:11) agrees with your take on the aspect:
σχολασατε και γνωτε οτι εγω ο θεος
SCOLASATE KAI GNWTE hOTI EGW hO QEOS
"Relax and realize that I am God."
Μαρκος ουν λεγει οτι καλως λεγεις.
MARKOS OUN LEGEI hOTI KALWS LEGEIS.
Hope you feel better TACEWS.
